Swingbyte: Virtual Coaching App

Last year, we had the opportunity to feature Swingbyte 2, a mobile golf swing analysis tool. For those we like to know exactly what they’re doing with their golf swing, it is the perfect training aid. It is a lightweight swing analyzer that provides a robust amount of data to help golfers improve their practice and their swings.

For 2015, Swingbyte launches golf’s first ever virtual coaching app. The Virtual Coach displays personalized drills and lessons in less than a minute to correct swing faults. It is an intuitive platform that uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to analyze a golfer’s swing and identify the most important swing and body faults present. Swingbyte is shifting its focus from hardcore data towards an easy-to-understand platform offering on-demand, personalized lessons and drills.

With the original Swingbyte devices, an abundance of data is provided for the user to analyze and decipher. With the Virtual Coach, it transforms Swingbyte from a reporting tool to an interactive learning platform. By employing a machine-learning algorithm that combines Swingbyte data with a knowledge base of over 100 pre-defined faults, Virtual Coach can identify the top swing flaws that impact a golfer’s ball flight. After analyzing a golfer’s swing, the Virtual Coach displays a series of video lessons and drills on how to correct and improve the swing flaws. Take a look at a sample lesson below.

“Up to this point, Swingbyte was a great training tool for the knowledgeable golfer, but helping the average golfer understand and utilize data to correct their swing faults is the next step,” said Alex Pedenko, Swingbyte CEO and Co-Founder. “Virtual Coach will do just that by providing highly personalized, easy-to-understand drills and lessons.”

Plane Truth Golf, an instructor-training program founded by PGA TOUR instructors Jim Hardy and Chris O’Connell, will be the featured instructional content on Virtual Coach. During product development, Plane Truth instructors helped train the Virtual Coach AI by reviewing impact and ball flight data from thousands of golf swings, and then tagging and classifying the faults occurring in each swing.

“Our entire philosophy at Plane Truth is built around understanding impact and ball flight as the basis for improvement. When given the correct information, we believe every golfer is capable of hitting the next ball better,” said Jim Hardy. “We’ve been working closely with Swingbyte to analyze data and create the lessons for over a year, and we’re excited to hear the response from golfers. With Virtual Coach, golfers can now use this wearable technology to understand key swing faults and work to instantly improve their game anytime, anywhere.”

Virtual Coach will be available for Beta testing on iPhone only beginning October 21. Make sure to visit swingbyte.com for more information.
