This 2015 Presidents Cup at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea concluded this weekend in dramatic fashion as Team USA took home the winning point in the last singles match. What made this even more of a storybook ending was Captain’s pick and son of USA’s Captain Jay Haas, Bill Haas, secured the winning point as Team USA took home the Presidents Cup with a score of 15 ½ to 14 ½.
Although most golf fans anticipated a duel between Jordan Spieth and Jason Day once again, they actually did not go head to head. Jordan Spieth was matched up against another Aussie, Marc Leishman, who won his match 1-up over the world number one. Jason Day, on the other hand, lost to reigning Champion Golfer of the Year, Zach Johnson, in his match.
The 2015 Presidents Cup was as competitive as it has ever been in the past decade. It’s a sure sign that the sport of golf is growing on a global level and future President Cups will have the world’s talent on display. In the meantime, Team USA will enjoy this victory and hope to replicate this performance when they head to Hazeltine National for the 2016 Ryder Cup.
