The FootJoy DNA was first introduced in early 2014 and quickly became one of the best shoes in the sport of golf. The combination of comfort and minimalistic style also made it the shoe of choice among the members of Eighteen Under Par. For 2016, FootJoy has updated the DNA’s with even more features including a traditional lace system as well as a BOA lace system.
The DNA’s, or DryJoys Next Advancement, offers new, cutting-edge design and construction methodology. ChromoSkin leather, developed by Pittards of England, is used for the overall construction of the shoe. It is a supple, lightweight and durable leather and also extremely waterproof (two-year waterproof protection). An athletic design helps today’s golf athlete – the SnugFit tongue with MicroVent technology shapes to the foot while providing breathability while a 3D FoamCollar molds to the ankle for extreme support, comfort and fit. The most noticeable design change for us is the clean toe profile compared to the previous generation of DNA.
The lightweight cushioned Fine Tuned Foam (FTF) fit-bed provides optimum underfoot comfort and heel support to make sure your feet feel fresh throughout a round of golf and afterwards as well. The NitroThin TPU outsole provides lightweight stability and performance. Tornado Cleats by Softspikes help to achieve a low profile while the thinner spec receptacles ensure low-profile performance through the TourLockâ„¢ cleat system. This allows players to get as low to the ground as possible for added stability.
Lastly, the Nitro Last offers a full rounded toe character, slightly shallow forefoot, slightly narrow heel and standard instep. The extra depth helps accommodate a thicker fit-bed for enhanced cushioning. The FootJoy DNA and FootJoy DNA BOA will be available for USD $220 and USD $240. The DNA’s will also be available through FootJoy’s MyJoys customization program with 21,168 possible combinations.
