Jason Day has been on fire lately, playing arguably the best golf of anybody so far this summer. Currently, he has tied Jordan Spieth with most wins on TOUR this year (4) and looks to continue his winning ways over the next couple of weeks leading into the TOUR Championship and of course, to the Presidents Cup in South Korea.
Day started the season with a win at Torrey Pines for the Farmers Insurance Open and then had some close calls at the Major Championships, particularly at the US Open at Chambers Bay and The Open Championship at St. Andrews. You could tell he was on the verge of winning though – the follow week, he would win the RBC Canadian Open and took that momentum into the PGA Championship at Whistling Straits, setting a new Major scoring record and winning his first Major.
He wouldn’t stop there though – last week at The Barclays, Day shot a final round 8-under-par 62 to win the tournament and overtake Jordan Spieth as number 1 in the FedEx Cup standings. He did so with some incredible putting – this year, Day is second in the Strokes Gained: Putting statistic (0.740) as well as second in Putting Average (1.708). Perhaps the most impressive statistic is this: Putting From Greater Than 25 feet, 10.31% 1st. In the video above, we step inside the TaylorMade Ghost Lab to see the full-day process of constructing Jason Day’s Itsy Bitsy prototype putter.
