This year, The Barclays returns to Plainfield Country Club in Edison, NJ, which hosted The Barclays in 2011. The club is a Donald Ross golf course that was recently restored by leading golf architect Gil Hanse. It is the first tournament of the FedEx Cup playoffs where the top 125 in the standings will hope to survive and advance to next week’s Deutsche Bank Championship.
Hunter Mahan looks to defend his title this week – he started last year’s final round trailing leaders Jason Day and Jim Furyk by three shots and was able to come back and win by 2 strokes once the final putt dropped. He’ll defend without some of the top players in the field though including Rory McIlroy, Sergio Garcia and other big names. 2015 Masters and US Open Champion, Jordan Spieth, will be in the field though and hopes to retain his World Number 1 ranking – he will lose it to Rory McIlroy if he does not make the cut this week!
