Whistling Straits is one of two 36-hole links-style golf courses associated with The American Club, a luxury golf resort located near Kohler, Wisconsin, and owned by a subsidiary of the Kohler Company. It has hosted the PGA Championship on three occasions: 2004 (Vijay Singh), 2010 (Martin Kaymer) and most recently 2015 (Jason Day).
Although it looks like a links course, many players say it doesn’t often play like a links course. But it’s definitely one of the most scenic golf courses in the world, on the shores of Lake Michigan, and featuring over 1,000 bunkers. In the video above, watch as Matt Ginella of Golf Channel sits down and discusses the legacy from the partnership of Herb Kohler and Pete Dye.
