Last year, Rory McIlroy returned to the top of his game and put together an amazing summer of golf starting with a win at the European Tour’s flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship, followed by wins at The Open Championship, the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and the PGA Championship. With such an amazing summer, he was able to reach number 1 in the Official Golf World Rankings again.
He started the 2015 season in similar fashion, winning the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, WGC-Matchplay Championship and Wells Fargo Championship. It looked like another Summer of Rory was approaching, however, he would injure his ankle, forcing him to sit out for nearly a month of competition. With that injury, he was unable to defend his titles at The Open Championship at St. Andrews or the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
Through hard work and rehab though, Rory’s ankle is well enough for him to compete in the season’s final Major Championship, the PGA Championship at Whistling Straits, where he hopes to defend his title against the likes of Jordan Spieth, who has won two Majors this year, Jason Day, Dustin Johnson (both who contended at Majors this year) and so many more. In the video above, watch the type of work Rory puts in to become better, whether that work is in the gym, on the range or on the course. Where do you think Rory will finish this week?
