We are getting ready for The Open Championship week at The Home of Golf. This is the third Major Championship of the year and perhaps the one that most golfers want to win – with that in mind, there are so many story lines heading into St. Andrews. The first is Jordan Spieth, coming off a win at the John Deere Classic. He will aim to capture his third straight Major Championship. Fellow American and 2015 PLAYERS Champion Rickie Fowler just won at Gullane Golf Club for the AAM Scottish Open and will hope to contend to capture his first Major Championship.
Tiger Woods is also in the field, playing at his favourite golf course. He’s coming off his first bogey-free round in a while and showed signs of brilliance during the Greenbrier Classic – he’ll hope to contend come Sunday. 65-year-old Tom watson, who is a five-time Open Champion, will hope capture a six Claret Jug as he tees it in for the final time in The Open – and no doubt, he’ll receive the same ovation as Jack Nicklaus at St. Andrews during his final round at The Open.
You can’t count out Dustin Johnson, who played well all week at the US Open, or Louis Oosthuizen either, who played also played well at Chambers Bay and was the last person to win at The Open at St. Andrews. Unfortunately though, defending champion Rory McIlroy will not be in the field after tearing some ankle ligaments.
In the video above, watch from past champions on what it means to be crowned Champion Golfer of the Year and how it feels to be part of history. It’s a feeling all golfers are chasing – who will be the 2015 Champion Golfer of the Year walking across Swilcan Bridge at The Home of Golf?
