Jordan Spieth is on fire right now. He has already won three times this season, including two Major Championships, including the Valspar Championship, The Masters and the US Open Championship. He also had chances to win in his home state of Texas during the Valero Texas Open and the Shell Houston Open, finishing second in both tournaments.
With this win, he heads into The Open Championship in great form, hoping to win his third Major Championship in a row and continue to chase the single calendar year grand slam. This win is so appropriate for Jordan as it was the tournament where he got his first PGA TOUR victory. In many ways, it was a life changing shot as it gave him, 19 years old at the time, status on the PGA TOUR and led to many other great things early in his career.
This week, he played the John Deere Classic with rounds of 71-64-61-68 to finish at 20-under-par (see his third round 61 above). It was a grinding 68 for his final round on Sunday, but he managed to pull off the victory over Tom GIllis in the second playoff hole to earn his fifth career PGA TOUR victory and fourth of the season. With this win, Jordan is now one victory shy of tying Tiger Woods for most wins on TOUR before age 22. Watch highlights of the tournament above – good luck next week at The Open, Jordan!
