There are many young stars on the PGA Tour and leading the way are Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy. Each year, younger and younger players seem to make an impact in the world of professional golf. At the 2014 US Women’s Open, Lucy Li made history when she qualified for the tournament at just 11 years of age. This year, at just 15 years old, rising amateur star Cole Hammer qualified for the US Open at Chambers Bay.
Cole Hammer is the third youngest player ever to qualify for the US Open. He also became the first player born in this century to play in a Major Championship. Playing in a Major Championship is not an easy task, especially when you’re a teenager. In the Golfing World interview above, we hear from Cole as he speaks on his experiences at Chambers Bay and what it felt like to tee it up right beside his idols, which included a practice round with Jordan Spieth.
