Skratch TV: Meet Tony Finau

Tony Finau came from humble beginnings in Utah. He was a very accomplished basketball player and had several college scholarship offers for the sport (he’s also the cousin of Jabari Parker) – he would turn them all down to turn professional in the sport of golf at the age of 17 and began playing on mini-tours including the Gateway Tour, NGA Hooters Tour and National Pro Tour. He even played on the PGA TOUR Canada in 2013 and finished T3 at the 2013 Web.com Tour qualifying school to earn his Web.com Tour Card for 2014. He finished 12th in the Web.com Tour Finals to earn his PGA TOUR card for the 2014-15 season. He was even in contention at the 2015 US Open, eventually finishing T14 at 2-over par.

You may also recognize Finau from Golf Channel’s The Big Break in 2009. It’s a show that give aspiring golfers a chance to play in a PGA TOUR event – he would finish second on the show. In the video above by Skratch TV, get to know this young, rising star!
