The Black Knight, Mr. Gary Player, is one of the greatest golfers of all time. Over the span of his career, he won nine Major Championships (3 Masters, 1 US Open, 3 Open Championships, 1 PGA Championship) as well as three Senior British Open Championships on the European Senior Tour. He completed his career grand slam at the age of 29 and became the only non-American to win all four majors – the Career Grand Slam. At the time, he was only the third golfer in history to achieve this feet, following Ben Hogan and Gene Sarazen. Since then, only Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods have won the Career Grand Slam. Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy are close, awaiting that US Open and Masters victory, respectively.
Mr. Player has won 165 tournaments on six continents over six decades and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1974. He is one of the greatest ambassadors in the sport of golf and is a tremendous advocate for health and fitness, even taking part in ESPN Magazine’s 2013 Body Issue. In the video above, watch as Mr. Player joins Harry Arnett of Callaway Golf on this episode of Callaway Talks to chat about the 50th anniversary of his completion of the Career Grand Slam.
