Erik Compton became a household name for golf fans during last year’s US Open at Pinehurst No.2. His gritty performance led him to finish tied for second and in the process, he also won the admiration of fans that weekend. It was also that weekend that Erik’s story of hard work and perseverance was shared with us and it was nothing short of inspiring.
With the 2015 US Open at Chambers Bay just around the corner, we look back at Erik Compton’s story and his journey to the PGA Tour. Despite the multiple heart surgeries that Erik endured, his perseverance earned him a PGA Tour card for the 2012 season.
The fight and the will to never give up are certainly characteristics that are needed to grind out a victory at the US Open. Erik has shown he can do it with last year’s performance at Pinehurst and we may just need to keep an eye on Erik this year at Chambers Bay as well!
