We are only weeks away from the 2015 US Open Championship at Chambers Bay. This will be the first time that the national Championship will be held in the Pacific Northwest and this year, the venue presents a different challenge for competitors. Chambers Bay was “created to be an inspired tribute to the ancient linksland of Scotland” and a first look at the golf course would give the impression that it’s more suitable for the Open Championship. In fact, three of the four Major Championships this year, aside from The Masters, feature links style golf courses in Chambers Bay, the Old Course at St. Andrews and Whistling Straits.
Although we are still three weeks away from the start of the US Open and about seven weeks to the Open Championship, Golfing World takes a look back at some of the greatest Open Championships in recent history before the tournament heads back to St. Andrews, the home of golf this year. Many legends of the game made an appearance in the countdown at some of the world’s most renowned golf courses.
As the oldest of the four Major Championships, there are certainly a lot of moments to choose from, but what is your favourite moment in the Open Championship? Let us know in the comment section below!
