2015 Masters Champion: Jordan Spieth

Watch Jordan Spieth complete his record week by putting on the Green Jacket.

At just 21 years old, Jordan Spieth completed a record week at Augusta National Golf Club and the first Major Championship of 2015 at The Masters. After being in the Sunday final pairing last year but falling short to Bubba Watson, Spieth went into The Masters this year with a chip on his shoulder and something to prove. And he never really gave anybody else a chance – he would shoot 64-66-70-70 to win his first Major Championship at 18-under par and broke numerous records while doing so.

Spieth, who has risen to number 2 in the Official World Golf Ranking, set the lowest 36 hole score (14-under par), lowest 54 hole score (16-under par) and tied Tiger Woods with the lowest 72 hole score (18-under par). He was at 19-under par at one point before a bogey on the 72nd hole. He has also made the most birdies in one tournament with 28 this week (previous mark was 25, held by Phil Mickelson) and was the first wire-to-wire Champion since Raymond Floyd in 1976.

Jordan Spieth Masters 2015

The focus heading into this year’s Masters Tournament was definitely on Rory McIlroy and his quest to complete the career grand slam. He would finish the tournament in solo 4th at 12-under par after shooting rounds of 71-71-68-66. Perhaps an even bigger story was the return of Tiger Woods. After taking time off to address his game and make it “tournament ready,” nobody knew what to expect of Tiger – he would finish the tournament T17 at 5-under par and showed a tremendously improved short game. The horrors of his starts at the Waste Management Phoenix Open and Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines seem to be behind him.

With those huge names, perhaps Spieth went into Augusta a bit under the radar. He was definitely in the best form though, having won the Valspar Championship and finished second and T2 at the Valero Texas Open and Shell Houston Open over the past couple of weeks. While being in such good form, it’s no wonder he conquered Augusta National – in the two videos above, watch a recap of the entire Masters week and hear from Jordan during the Green Jacket presentation ceremony.

Chambers Bay Golf Course US Open 2015

We now countdown to the 2015 US Open at Chambers Bay Golf Course, the first ever Major Championship to be help in the Pacific Northwest. And with this win, Jordan Spieth may be the early favourite – his caddy lives only 20 minutes away from Chambers Bay, use to work there as a caddy and even got married on site! But with Phil Mickelson recording a runner-up finish at The Masters, you can bet he is feeling good about his game, and hopefully good enough heading into Chambers Bay to complete his career grand slam.
