Rory McIlroy and the Masters

It was the “Summer of Rory” in mid-2014, as McIlroy returned to Number 1 in the Official Golf World Rankings and won some of golf’s biggest events including the European Tour’s flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship, The Open Championship, the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, the PGA Championship as well as the Ryder Cup with Team Europe.

With such a dominant performance, Rory McIlroy was named the PGA TOUR Player of the Year as well as the European Golf of the Year. His game has been very consistent, with a chance to win nearly every tournament he’s entered. The past couple of months, he’s finished runner-up at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, DP World Tour Championship and the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship. He put an end to that runner-up streak with a win, his 10th on the European Tour, at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic.

With his rediscovered love for the sport of golf and arguably the best swing in golf, Rory is definitely looking forward to Augusta and The Masters Tournament in hopes to complete the career grand slam. It’s the Major Championship where we first saw him in the final group on Sunday, yet falter, with a final round 80 a few years ago. He’d definitely be coming full circle if he captures the Green Jacket this April. In the video above, watch as Shane O’Donoghue from CNN Living Golf sat down with Rory in Dubai to talk about the first Major Championship of the year.
