Henrik Stenson Dresses Up In Dubai

Henrik Stenson made his 2015 debut during the European Tour’s Middle East swing. He teed it up first at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters in Qatar and then at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic in Dubai. He would finish T13 at both tournaments – not a bad start to the year! His next start will be the WGC-Cadillac Championship in March.

Stenson has played at an incredible level the past few years, starting in 2013 when he won both the FedEx Cup and Race To Dubai as well as finished in the Top-3 at The Open Championship, the PGA Championship and the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. He would continue the strong play into 2014, signing with Callaway Golf and by repeating as champion at the DP World Tour Champinoship, the final event of the European Tour’s Race To Dubai. He was also a part of the European Ryder Cup team who was victorious at Gleneagles.

It wasn’t also smooth sailing for Stenson though, in fact, he’s had a rather roller coaster of a career. At one point, he dropped to World Number 621 from 73 at the beginning of his career. Ten years later, he would be ranked 4th in the world after his win at The Players Championship before dropping to 230th in the world and fighting back to where he is now at World Number 2.

In the video above, the European Tour meets up with Stenson in Dubai, a place he’s been a regular visitor of since joining the Tour in 2001. He even made it his home for ten years until 2012. In the video, he returns to the venue where he won back in 2007 (his fifth European Tour title) and chats about the Emirates Golf Club and his goals for 2015, especially winning Sweden’s first golf Major Championship.
