The PGA TOUR returns this week to one of the most beautiful sites in all of golf, Torrey Pines Golf Course, for the 47th Farmers Insurance Open. There are multiple headlines heading into this week’s tournament. The first being Tiger Woods, who comes off a missed cut and dead last finish at the Waste Management Phoenix Open last week. Torrey Pines is a course where he’s won eight times, including his last Major, the 2008 US Open. However, his recent short game has been dreadful and have some claiming he has the yips – betting odds on him winning this week at are 50-1. We’re curious to see how he will do in a place he’s so familiar with.
Another story heading into this week is the return of Dustin Johnson to competitive golf. He has taken roughly six months off to address personal issues and now, as a new father with a refreshed mindset, he hopes to fulfill the potential that is expected of him. Phil Mickelson is also in the field this week. He also missed the cut last week at the Phoenix Open, but hopes to raise a trophy on Sunday, the site of his first professional victory.
