FootJoy is preparing to announce their latest offering in the golf footwear industry. The company’s new shoe, to be called the HyperFlex from rumours, will be announced on January 15, 2015. We’ve already featured the new FTF 2.0 technology (Fine Tuned Foam) and in this video, FootJoy teases the public again with FlexGrid.
FlexGrid Technology was inspired by the Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge, the widest cable-stayed bridge in the world. This FlexGrid “cable design” works as an exoskeleton and conforms to a golfer’s foot. This allows the foot to flex and expand throughout a round of golf while also giving the golfer the strength and support for lateral stability in their golf swing. Combined with a mesh base layer, the HyperFlex will give golfers the comfort and stability of an athletic shoe, but the performance of a high-end golf shoe that FootJoy is known for. Stay tuned for more on January 15, 2015.
In the meantime, check out some photos of the prototype shoe worn by Hunter Mahan during the 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles. It’s definitely more of an athletic design compared to other offerings from FootJoy. What do you think of the look and design? Leave a comment and let us know!
