Tiger Woods made his return to competitive golf today during round 1 of his Hero World Challenge at Isleworth Golf Club, armed with new golf clubs, a new golf swing and a new golf consultant in Chris Como. Although he opened up the tournament with a round of 77 (5-over par), he did hit some good shots, particuarly from tee to green. It was his short game that failed him today though, as he ended up chunking four chips in one round! His overall swing looks fluid and powerful, and most importantly, no grimaces during his follow-through. For the first time in a long time, it seems that Tiger Woods is 100% healthy and it’s great to see him compete again.
But perhaps the best highlight of week so far is not the return of Tiger Woods on the golf course, but the way he can inspire younger generations. Most golfers of this generation like Rickie Fowler and Jordan Spieth have grown up watching Tiger and he still has the ability to draw people to the sport of golf, particularly Tommy Morrissey. Tommy Morrissey does not see himself as a disabled child, even though he was born with only a left arm. He looks past life’s obstacles and shows promise as a golfer as he practices putting with one of his golfing heros, Tiger Woods. Take a look!
