2014 was definitely a season that Rory McIlroy will never forget. It started with a win at the European Tour’s flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship and his strong play continued and peaked at the perfect time. After rediscovering his love for the sport, Rory won in three consecutive starts including The Open Championship, the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and the PGA Championship. He would also be a part of the winning Ryder Cup team.
With such success on the golf course, he was easily named the PGA TOUR’s Player of the Year for the second time in his career (2012, 2014). Off the golf course, he got to walk on the pitch with his favourite soccer club, Manchester United, was a guest on the Tonight Show with Tiger Woods and even worked with Nike Golf engineers to give them feedback on their new line of Vapor metalwoods and irons.
