We have seen urban golf clubs in major metropolitan cities before, such as Urban Golf in London, England, Golf & Body NYC in New York and City Links Golf Lounge in Hong Kong. Now, venture capitalist Jay Young and business partner Ryan Hawk has opened up One Under Vancouver in the heart of the financial district in our hometown of Vancouver, Canada!
To address the common concerns of golf that it’s too time consuming and expensive, One Under aims to provide an unique venue where patrons can enjoy the game of golf while having lunch or dinner. The 5,000 square foot urban golf club has six state-of-the-art HD Golf Simulators. Using a combination of high-speed camera technology and over 20,000 high definition pictures at the actual golf course, the HD Golf Simulators are able to capture all the critical ball and club parameters of each swing and provide the most realistic and accurate golf experience!
The HD Golf Simulators feature 22 of the world’s best golf courses, including Major Championship venues such as the Old Course at St. Andrews, Bethpage Black, Pinehurst No. 2, Kiawah Island, Pebble Beach and more. With the rental of a simulator bay, golf clubs are provided for your group by Nike Golf featuring Covert 2.0 drivers, woods and irons. By February 2015 though, the all new Vapor line of equipment (see driver, woods; irons) will be in stock for customers to use. In addition to being able to play golf courses, the simulators also offer many fun games and competitions such as long drive, closest to the pin, window breaking and more.
Although golf is a major part of One Under Vancouver, other aspects of the urban golf club were not overlooked. Its interior was designed by Jen Eden of Occupy Design, who did a fabulous job of integrating the building’s history with a modern appeal. The details of the space are amazing from the flooring and lighting to the wall decal world map of all the courses on the simulators, blending together golf lifestyle and design. In terms of food, One Under has partnered up with celebrated local chef Reuben Major to create an unique menu featuring Artisanal Italian pizza to compliment its extensive craft beer list and handcrafted cocktails!
You could go in for a round, work on your swing on a virtual driving range, play some friendly games on the simulators or simply drop by for a bite to eat and a drink while watching a game on one of their many televisions. The HD simulators themselves can also broadcast television for those huge sporting events like a Major Championship or anything else! Overall, it’s a great space that combines golf and golf lifestyle, making the sport more accessible and more social to the avid golfer or the beginner who is just starting out.
One Under Vancouver is now opened to the public and you can book your tee time online or by calling 604-559-GOLF! For a single simulator, the rate starts at $50 CAD an hour (including Nike Golf clubs) however, there is also a private room option where you can book “The 1911 Room.” The 1911 Room is a 500 square foot space that combines a VIP simulator with a private boardroom.
