Ahead of the BMW Masters at Lake Malaren Golf Club in Shanghai, China, Ian Poulter and Justin Rose spent some time in Dongguan at Mission Hills for a friendly matchplay competition. This matchplay was played on the new Rose-Poulter golf course set within a stunning valley of age old trees and jungle vegetation.
This newly redesigned golf course at Mission Hills Dongguan has been changed to create an exciting risk/reward opportunity on many holes and is a great venue for a match play format where players are asked to take chances along the way with less regard to overall medal scoring. The course evokes a much more natural feel with a significant amount of the bunker complexes transitioning into native vegetation, creating a much more flowing and integrated relationship with the outside vegetation and towering mountains. From the tips, it plays 6,918 yards and is a par 72.
