Donald Trump is one of the sport of golf’s biggest fans. Not only is he a real estate mogul, but recently, he’s been building (and buying) some amazing golf courses. We got a tour of the Trump International Golf Links in Scotland earlier in the year as well as heard from Donald Trump himself about the course and his recent purchase of Turnberry Resort. All this has followed his purchase and renovation of the Blue Monster at Doral, host of the WGC-Cadillac Championship.
But perhaps the course that people are looking most forward to from Donald Trump is the municipally owned Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point in the Bronx, New York. The course looks like it belongs in Scotland, yet it’s just minutes away from Manhattan. It is set to open in the spring of 2015 and plays 7,407 yards from the championship tees. Similar to Liberty National Golf Course, the views at Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point are remarkable with views of the Whitestone Bridge, the East River, the Throgs Neck Bridge, the Manhattan skyline and more.
But the design of the golf course will wow you just as much as the views. It is a Jack Nicklaus designed course with man-made (though natural-looking) dunes topped with wavy grass and gently tumbling meadowland. However, despite the linksy look, Ferry Point is fairly green and won’t play as firm as some purists would like. Take a look at the video above where Joe Passov of Golf.com gives an early review of the golf course. It might be time to start planning that next trip to the Big Apple!
