In this post, Golfing World catches up with Matt Fitzpatrick who is enjoying his first tastes of life as a professional golfer. Before turning professional, he was one of the top ranked amateurs in the world. He won the British Boys Championship in 2012 and also qualified for the Open Championship at Muirfield where he won the Silver Medal for best amateur!
After Muirfield, he traveled to the United States to compete in the US Amateur Championship and became the first Englishman in 102 years to win the tournament! This gave him status for the 2014 Masters, where he would miss the cut, and the 2014 US Open at Pinehurst No. 2, where he finished as low amateur. He would attend Northwestern University, Luke Donald’s alma mater, but after only one term, he would withdraw and turn professional. The 2014-2015 season will be his full season on tour – take a look and hear from Matt!
