Chesson Hadley: 2014 Rookie of the Year

We got to know Chesson Hadley a little bit earlier in the season. He won the Web.Com Tour Championship last year to claim his PGA TOUR card for 2014. He would take full advantage of his first full season on the TOUR, winning at the Puerto Rico Open. The maiden win in his first full year on TOUR gives him a two-year exemption and gives him some security in regards to status on TOUR.

Hadley was a streaky player as a rookie though. He did not qualify for the U.S. Open in Pinehurst and missed 10 of 11 cuts in one stretch during the spring and summer (including The Open Championship and the PGA Championship) before rebounding late in the year to tie for ninth in the Deutsche Bank Championship and 12th in the BMW Championship, two of the events in the FedEx Cup playoffs. He would finish 49th in the 2014 FedEx Cup standings with four top-10 finishes on the year. This experience is bound to help him in the future and we’re sure we’ll be seeing Chesson in the winner’s circle again soon!

  1. Shows what a fine line it is on the PGA Tour.
He barely made it, did well, then lost his card… nowhere to be seen.
Then now he’s back, contending for big wins on the PGA Tour… but what next?

    Golf is streaky….
