We’ve seen the new Titleist 915 line of drivers on the PGA TOUR for the past couple of months now and some details of the innovations are already known. But today, Titleist officially announces the debut of the 915 drivers to the public.

Like previous drivers before it, the 915 will be offered in a 460CC head (915 D2) and a 440CC head (915 D3). What players will notice right away will be the deep groove toward the front of the sole – the Active Recoil Channel. We’ve seen similar technology before with Nike Golf’s Compression Channel (making a comeback in the Nike VAPOR driver) and Taylormade’s Speedpocket designs – Titleist’s ARC works similarly by providing more flex of the face for faster ball speeds across the whole face and more distance. One thing Titleist also claims is that the ARC design will help to reduce spin – the design compresses the ball in a different manner thus, the ball does not have the chance to gather as much rotational energy, therefore, spin is reduced. With this driver, they have produced the perfect combination of CG and MOI.

Working in unison with the ARC is the Radial Speed Face design which features a variable thickness face insert that is “organically tapered.” The centre of the face is thicker, but progressively gets thinner as your move outward towards the perimeter of the face. So for players with off center hits, the Radial Speed Face will work with the ARC to improve off center hits as well as heel or toe mishits. Players will still get a lot of flex in those areas will helps keep ball speed up hence, more forgiveness and distance.

The Titleist 915 drivers also feature a high Moment of Inertia (MOI). With a high MOI, speed is maintained across the face for increased distance consistency. With so much new technology going into this driver, Titleist really worked hard to ensure that the weight of the driver was correct and to make areas of the driver as thin as possible to ensure they achieved their ideal CG, which is lower and more forward to produce that low spin, while maintaining their ideal MOI. Find out more in the video below.

The 915 series will continue to feature Titleist’s 16-way adjustable hosel (Sure Fit Technology) that allows players to independently change loft and lie angle. Each head can move loft by up to plus-1.75 degrees and minus .75 degrees, while lie angle can be shifted 1.5 degrees upright to .75 degrees flat. The 915 D2 will be available in five lofts (7.5, 8.5, 9.5, 10.5, 12), while the D3 will be available in four (7.5, 8.5, 9.5, 10.5). The drivers utilize five stock shafts, including the Aldila Rogue Black and Silver and the Diamana D+ White, S+ Blue and M+ Red. The 915 D2 and 915 D3 drivers will be available November 14 with a MSRP of $499.
