Lee Westwood is preparing for his ninth consecutive Ryder Cup appearance. He will become the first player ever to play the Ryder Cup in England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland throughout his career. Although he was a Captain’s pick this year, his game really started to pick up a bit towards the end of the PGA TOUR season. In addition to the preparation on the golf course, Lee also decided to hit the gym hard. In the past six weeks, he shed 23 pounds from his physique by doing double gym sessions – cardio and weight sessions while watching his diet.
Westwood has played 37 matches and with a 21-18-13 record and winning six Ryder Cups. This makes the 41-year-old the fifth most successful European golfer in Ryder Cup history behind Seve Ballesteros, Colin Montgomerie, Bernhard Langer and Nick Faldo.
