Rory McIlroy is perhaps golf’s most high profile athlete at the 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles. He is the World Number 1 as well as the 2014 Open Champion and PGA Champion. Not only did he win two Majors in 2014, but he also won the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational as well as the European Tour’s flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Golf Club.
He is definitely going to be a player that the Ryder Cup USA team will want to beat. In the video above during his appearance at the Nike Golf Fitting Centre at Archerfield, Rory talks about the upcoming Ryder Cup including his thoughts on Captain Paul McGinley, Tom Watson as well as who he would like to be paired with in the fourballs and foursomes matches. Take a look!
He even gave a detailed look and discussion about what’s in his golf bag, but there may be a new driver that makes it in his bag this week! Rory has been testing the new Nike Golf Vapor Driver during his range sessions and practice rounds. According to Rory, he’s gained about eight yards of carry distance with increased shot-shaping ability with the new driver. He is most likely using the Vapor Pro driver, which not only features Nike’s cavity back technology, but also the reintroduction of the Compression Channel found in previous Nike Golf equipment such as the VR Pro series.
