When you think of Srixon Golf, you probably think of their Q-star or Z-star golf balls. Or perhaps you think of their Journey To Better campaign featuring Graeme McDowell, Keegan Bradley, Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano or J.B. Holmes. However, in Japan, the brand is a powerhouse and has a strong following of players that use Srixon golf clubs. Finally, these golf clubs have made their way to North America.
For irons, Srixon will offer two models, the Z 545 and Z 745 irons. The Z 545 are distance-oriented for players of all ability combining a hot flight and incredible feel in a slightly larger, more forgiving cavity-back profile. This set of irons is forged from 1020 carbon steel, which is high-strength while also being extremely responsible and smooth at impact. THe irons also feature the newly developed Tour V.T. Sole. A “V” shape is created in the sole by increasing leading bounce and decreasing trailing bounce to reduce turf resistance and tighten shot dispersion. A laser milled pattern on the club face allows for more stable spin performance and more confident distance control from every lie, especialy the rough. Finally, the Z 545 irons have distance enhancing SUP10 steel faces and soft, ultra-premium 1020 carbon steel bodies for a smooth feel. To optimize the centre of gravity, the 3 to 6 irons feature a 3-gram tungsten toe weight.
The Z 745 irons are for the better player, featuring a muscle-cavity design that has a more compact shape and thinner topline. This set shares the same attributes with the Z 545 – they are a forged set of irons (1020 carbon steel) with a redesigned Tour V.T. sole that improves turf interaction and double laser milling on the face. Both sets retail for $999.99 and comes standard with True Temper’s Dynamic Gold shaft.
