Atlanta is home of East Lake Golf Club, the host of the PGA TOUR’s FedEx Cup finale, the Tour Championship, since 2007. In the 29 man field this week (Dustin Johnson is 30th, but has taken a “voluntary leave” of absence), each has a mathematical chance to win the FedEx Cup and its $10 million bonus, however, the top five have the best chance to do so. The Top 5 in the FedEx Cup standings include Chris Kirk, Billy Horschel, Bubba Watson, Rory McIlroy and Hunter Mahan, all who would win the FedEx Cup if they win the Tour Championship.
Defending champion, Henrik Stenson, who had an amazing 2013 campaign, is not in the field to defend his title. He’ll most likely take this time off to rest and prepare for the 2014 Ryder Cup that is set to begin in about two weeks time at Gleneagles in Scotland.
