Earlier in the day, Ryder Cup Captain Paul McGinley named his captain’s picks for Team Europe, selecting Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood and hometown favourite Stephen Gallacher! This evening, it was Captain Tom Watson’s turn to finalize his Ryder Cup team for USA, selecting Keegan Bradley, Hunter Mahan and Webb Simpson!
Just like Team Europe, Captain Tom Watson left some very good players out of this year’s Ryder Cup, including Brandt Snedeker, Bill Haas and Chris Kirk. In the end, Tom Watson selected the players that he felt would give America the best chance to win and with a lot of players returning from the 2012 Ryder Cup team at Medinah, “redemption” seems to be the theme that we’ll be hearing a lot in the next few weeks.
Keegan even took a “Captain’s pick selfie” with Hunter and Webb, #redeemteam! It’s certainly an interesting storyline and we only have to wait three weeks for the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles to get underway!
