Rory McIlroy should be getting use to sitting down for these post-championship interviews. In his last three starts, he has won three times including two Major Championships (The Open Championship, WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, PGA Championship). This stretch of golf is reminiscent of his 2012 campaign where he seemingly won or was in contention for every tournament he entered.
In the video above, McIlroy sits down with Tom Rinaldi from ESPN Golf to discuss winning the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club and what he learned about himself by winning it. His distance and power off the tee definitely helped in such wet conditions. His previous three Major Championship victories have all been tournaments where he has been in control – this past weekend at Valhalla, McIlroy was being pushed to the limits by the likes of Phil Mickelson, Rickie Fowler and even Henrik Stenson. He learned to win a Major the “ugly” way and grind out a victory.
The past couple weeks have definitely been a Dream Come True for Rory – 25 years old, World Number 1, 4-time Major Champion and nearly $5 million in earnings in less than a month! Life is good!
