A couple weeks ago, we featured the brand new PING Golf G30 driver with turbulator technology. Turbulator Technology helps generate faster clubhead speed and ball velocity for longer, straighter tee shots by reducing aerodynamic drag, while also working as a type of alignment aid. Along with the driver, PING also released a series of fairway woods, hybrids and irons under the same line, which we will look at in this feature. Make sure to check out the PING Karsten Combo Set, i25 driver and their S55 irons.
A hotter, more forgiving face for generating distance with control was the inspiration behind the G30 fairway woods. A strong, uniform-thickness Carpenter 475 face maximizes deflection to increase ball speed and generate distance. The face is also taller for additional face bending and forgiveness. Crown turbulators help with aim and confidence. And with five settings, you can add or subtract up to 1 degree of loft to optimize trajectories.
Faster ball speeds and longer distance with a higher max shot height with the G30 hybrids will give you the stopping power to hold shots on the greens and attack pins. The 17-4 stainless steel face is H900 heat-treated so it’s thin but strong to increase ball velocity. Internal weighting creates a high MOI. Progressive CG locations and offsets ensure efficient gapping and trajectories that maximize distance.
The G30 irons feature progressive lengths and lofts and a thin face to help you launch the ball high yet significanty farther, while still providing the added control you need to consistently attack the flag. Faster ball speeds are provided by a Custom Tuning Port (CTP) that sits very low and supports a thin face. The CTP and a low-back CG optimize launch and forgiveness while ensuring a solid feel. Slightly longer heads also boost MOI, and a new sole design ensures solid contact.
