Winning a Major championship is one of golf’s greatest feats. At 25 years old, Rory McIlroy has won three legs of the career grand slam with his victory at Royal Liverpool Golf Club this past weekend. After a rocky 18 months on and off the golf course, it seems that life has come around and Rory is back to playing the high level golf we know he is capable of.
Being from Northern Ireland, The Open Championship is the one “home major” for Rory McIlroy. He has famously struggled on links courses before, but has worked hard to adapt his game. It was the first time his mother was also in attendance during a Major championship victory which makes this win even sweeter. Definitely a dream come true for McIlroy – watch the video above as he speaks to Tom Rinaldi of ESPN about what winning the Claret Jug means to him. We’ll definitely be pulling for you at Augusta next year, Rory!
