On the PGA Tour, the John Deere Classic is the one of the last stop for players before The Open Championship at Royal Liverpool Golf Club. Last year, we saw Jordan Spieth win his first ever PGA TOUR title at this tournament with a life changing golf shot.
There would be no deja-vu for Jordan Spieth though as he finished the tournament at T7. Champion from two years ago, Zach Johnson, made a run for the title as well and always seems to play well at the John Deere Classic. But even his final round 7-under 64 couldn’t catch up to 27-year old, first time PGA TOUR winner Brian Harman.
Harman, in his third full season on the PGA TOUR, was in the final twosome on Sunday for the first time this past weekend and held the lead entering the final round. With Johnson hot on his tail (they’re actually neighbours!), he would birdie three consecutive holes in his last five to win the tournament by one shot, for a tournament total of 22-under par. Not only does he get his first PGA TOUR victory, but he always gets the last exemption spot for this week’s Open Championship at Royal Liverpool Golf Club! Take a look at the highlights of Harman’s first win above!
