Jordan Spieth’s young career on the PGA Tour has been very impressive so far. Many have claimed he’s the best young player on Tour since Tiger Woods said “Hello World!” Judging from the statistics, Jordan’s supporters may have a case! Tiger’s missed the cut in his first seven events as an amateur whereas Jordan tied for 16th in his first career start. In addition, Jordan was only 19 when he won the John Deere Classic last year. Tiger was two months shy of his 21st birthday when he won for the first time.
Aside from the comparison to Tiger, Jordan’s resume is filled with other achievements. Aside from winning the 2013 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year award, Jordan was also one of Fred Couple’s captain’s pick for the President’s Cup at Muirfield Village. He was also the fourth player since 1900 to win a tournament on the PGA tour as a teenager.
Not lost in all this is that Jordan was also the first player since Tiger in 1996 to go from no PGA playing status to qualifying for the Tour Championship! The comparison to Tiger Woods seems to be inevitable and we’ll get to see first hand how their games compare when they play in the same group for the first two rounds at the Quicken Loans National at Congressional!
