Brooke Mackenzie Henderson is 16-years old and from Smiths Falls, Ontario, Canada. She participated in last year’s US Women’s Open at Sebonack Golf Club (finishing 59th) and was also in the field this week at Pinehurst Resort’s No. 2 course. For the Championship, Henderson carded a 5-over par 285 to finish T10 and earn low-amateur honors for the 2014 US Women’s Open. She shot a final-round 1-under par 69 to best runner-up and top ranked amateur Minjee Lee by three strokes. The next closest amateur after Lee was 14 shots back.
It was definitely an amazing round of golf at a very tough golf course. It’s great to see her play so well and we look forward to seeing more of Brooke Henderson in the future! She will play one more LPGA event later this summer, the CN Canadian Women’s Open, with another young star who looks to defend her title for the third time – Lydia Ko. In the video above, the USGA goes behind the scenes and interviews Henderson – take a look!
