Adam Scott officially became World Number 1 in the Official Golf World Rankings at the beginning of the week at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial in Fort Worth, Texas, but he had a lot of work to do to stay at the top! If Henrik Stenson finished higher in the BMW PGA Championship than Adam Scott at the Crowne Plaza Invitational, Stenson would become the new number 1. This seemed to be the case earlier in the week as Adam Scott fought hard to make the cut, but what a weekend of golf we were treated to!
Jason Dufner and Adam Scott were both tied at 9-under par for the tournament and forced into a playoff – after matching each other shot for shot on the first two playoff holes, Scott would stick his wedge from 135 yards out to a couple of feet to birdie the third playoff off for the 11th win of his career. It was a great duel between two Major champions and opposing Presidents Cup Team members.
Take a look at the highlights above in case you missed the tournament! And also, make sure to watch the slow motion swing analysis of Scott at the 16th hole par 3 – what a beauty! Adam Scott is definitely adding to his wardrobe – today, he won a red tartan jacket to go along with his Green Jacket and Gold Jacket! With this win at Colonial, Scott also becomes the first player in PGA Tour history to win all four events in Texas (Texas Slam?): 2007 Shell Houston Open, 2008 Byron Nelson Championship, 2010 Valero Texas Open and the 2014 Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial.
