Callaway: Golf & Physics

As technology advances in the world of golf, more and more science has been applied to our golf clubs. Physics and the game of golf go hand in hand and in a new series by Callaway Golf, Head of R&D, Dr. Alan Hocknell, goes through the center of gravity in “You Can’t Argue With Physics!”

This past season, Callaway brought back their flagship driver, the Big Bertha! Not only does the new Big Bertha have a new Adjustable Perimeter Weighting system for maximum distance, there is also an 8-gram sliding weight toward the rear of the club to give the Big Bertha a higher MOI for more forgiveness as well as an infinite number of draw and fade bias options.

More MOI equals more distance and this is determined by the front and back center of gravity. This is all a bit technical but Dr. Alan Hocknell does a great job of explaining how all this fits together!
