We’re a little over one month away until the second Major championship of the year, the US Open at Pinehurst No. 2. The course has gone through a revitalization, returning it back to more of it’s original design. The interesting thing about the US Open at Pinehurst this year is that there will be no rough at all, so we’ll definitely be seeing a lot of creativity and shot making! Also, it will be the first time in history that the men’s US Open and women’s US Open will be held back-to-back at the same course!
Many players have already made their scouting trips to Pinehurst No. 2 to get a closer look at the changes including Jim Furyk, Gary Player, Hunter Mahan and Lydia Ko.
In this video by the USGA, Hunter Mahan is interviewed and he talks about the upcoming championship after visiting the restored No. 2 Course at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club. Last year, he tied for fourth at the US Open at Merion Golf Club and Phil Mickelson, who is still searching for his first US Open title, finished runner-up for the sixth time. This year, he returns to Pinehurst No. 2 where he was runner-up for the first time in his career in 1999 to Payne Stewart.
