Along with the Taylormade SLDR Irons that we featured, Taylormade also introduced a new line of metal woods, the SLDR-S. We’ve seen a lot of metal woods over the past year from Taylormade including the original SLDR driver, the SLDR 430, the SLDR fairways and hybrids and most recently, the SLDR Mini Driver and limited edition SLDR White. And of course, don’t forget about the JetSpeed family either–though we’re sure many people have already with the success of the SLDR!
The SLDR S line of TaylorMade metalwoods all feature the same low and forward CG as the original SLDR line, which is aimed at producing faster ball speeds, higher launch angles, lower spin rates, and more distance. Unlike the original SLDR though, the SLDR S metalwoods do not feature adjustable hosel technology, but will be offered with a wide variety of lofts.
The heads are instead bonded to the shaft which saves weight that can be used to lower the CG even more! The driver still features a sliding sole weight for a draw or fade bias though. The SLDR S metalwoods also feature shallower clubfaces and slightly more low-profile clubheads to make them more playable for players with non-Tour swing speeds with a beautiful satin silver crown and black face.
To promote the satin silver SLDR-S metal woods, Taylormade will have a “Silver Out” of many of its staff professionals during The Players Championship and the HP Byron Nelson Championship where the pros will wear silver Adidas Golf apparel, carry silver staff bags and play Tour-only satin silver SLDR drivers (the original SLDR with adjustability).
The SLDR S driver ($329) is available in 10°, 12°, 14°, and 16° models with Fujikura Speeder 57 graphite shaft. It comes with the same SLDR sliding weight technology as the original SLDR, allowing for customized shot shape control.
SLDR S fairway woods ($229) are available in 15°, 17°, 19°, 21°, and 23° models with Fujikura Speeder 65 graphite shafts. SLDR S Rescues ($179) are available in 19°, 22°, 25°, and 28° models with Fujikura Speeder 72 graphite shafts.
