With The Masters behind us already, players have already looked to the season’s next major – the US Open. We’ve already seen Jim Furyk, Phil Mickelson and even Mr. Gary Player visit the recently renovated and restored Pinehurst and share their thoughts on the course. The most recent player to pay a visit to the historic site is Hunter Mahan.
Already with five PGA Tour victories in his career and several close calls last year at Major championships, Mahan looks to break through this year. Last year at Merion, Mahan made a serious run at capturing the US Open Championship, playing in the final pairing on Sunday with Phil Mickelson before finishing T4 and was in the final round again at The Open Championship with Lee Westwood before finishing T9.
This past weekend, Mahan visited Pinehurst to get an early look at Pinehurst No. 2, where the course will host back-to-back US Open championships in June. In the video above, he shares his thoughts on the course as well as his experience winning there during the North & Southern Junior Amateur in 1999.
