Seung-Yul Noh Wins Zurich Classic

After going through the first 54 holes without a bogey at the Zurich Classic, 22 year old Seung-Yul Noh led the tournament at 18-under par heading into the final round. Despite making three bogeys in the final round, Seung-Yul Noh held on to win the tournament, marking the first time Noh has won on the PGA Tour!

Paired with Keegan Bradley in the final round, Noh has been playing with a heavy heart all week due to the Korean ferry accident. However, he was able to play with poise throughout the Zurich Classic and executed his game plan perfectly, utilizing a low-shot stinger for the better part of the day due to windy conditions. Eighteen Under Par had the opportunity to watch Seung-Yul Noh up close in the 2010 Hong Kong Open of the European Tour. His talent was apparent and with his first career PGA Tour victory, Seung-Yul’s future looks at bright as ever!

This isn’t his first victory of his professional career though – Noh won at the 2008 Midea China Classic as well as the 2010 Maybank Malaysian Open, the same tournament that Lee Westwood won last weekend! He also showed fine form in his rookie season on the PGA Tour two years ago and like Rory McIlroy, made the switch from Titleist to Nike Golf last year. Perhaps it was the equipment change or maybe it was being away his home and support system of South Korea at such a young age, Noh struggled in his 2013 season and needed to fight for his Tour card during the Web Dot Com Tour Finals. He would win the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship and retained his card before heading home to recharge.

  1. Very impressive victory for Noh. The 54 holes without a bogey was amazing and with a swing like he has I see many more victories down the road.
