After an incredible moving day on the 3rd day of the Masters, 2012 Masters Champion Bubba Watson and 20 year old Jordan Spieth found themselves tied for the lead ahead of the final round! Jonas Blixt, Matt Kuchar, Rickie Fowler and Miguel-Angel Jiminez were within a few shots of the lead but none of them really threatened on the final day. At the beginning of the final round, there were 14 players within 4 shots of the lead, but by mid-afternoon, there were only 4 players who could have had a possible chance of doing something very special.
It was mostly a back and forth duel between Bubba and Jordan and although the 20 year old had a 2 shot lead in the front 9, a few crucial mistakes combined with some great shots by Bubba sealed the victory for Bubba for his second green jacket in three years! The distance off the tee, known as “Bubba Long,” creativity and shot-making required at Augusta obviously fits Bubba’s game very well. Last time, Bubba had a bit of a “hangover” after his first Masters victory. He didn’t win again on the PGA Tour until the 2014 Northern Trust Open. It’ll be interesting to see if Bubba can carry the momentum from his second Major Championship onto the rest of the PGA Tour season!
