Moving Day of The 2014 Masters has finished and what a day of golf we were treated to! After heading into Round 3 leading the tournament at 7-under par, Bubba Watson ended up grinding away, shooting a 2-over par round and 5-under par for the tournament. It was a grind for most of the day for Bubba, who just didn’t seemed to play a little more defensive today than he did yesterday when he had 5 birdies in a row from holes 12 – 16. The story of the day though is definitely 20-year old Masters rookie, Jordan Spieth.
Four years ago, Spieth was playing junior golf. He played college golf for two years and last year, his rookie campaign on the PGA Tour, he broke out by winning at the John Deere Classic, the first win by a teenager in 81 years and even made the 2013 President’s Cup team. Now, after shooting a 2-under par 70, he’s co-leading the 78th Masters with Bubba Watson. Paired together in the final group tomorrow, Spieth, 20 years old, would become the youngest champion in the history of the Masters if he were to prevail – even younger than Tiger Woods, who was 21, when he won in 1997. The PGA Tour is definitely filled with young and talented players!
But Watson and Spieth, at 5-under, will be pursued closely by many others looking for either their first Green Jacket, or even first Major victory. Jonas Blixt and Matt Kuchar are at 4-under par while Rickie Fowler, who shot a 67, and Miguel-Angel Jiminez are at 3-under and among a group of 13 players who are within four shots going into Sunday’s final round. It should be an exciting final round to the 2014 Masters! Make sure to tune in and watch the drama unfold! And be sure to catch the 3 part Golf Channel documentary, airing immediately after the final round of The Masters – Arnie, The Documentary!
