Masters week is finally upon us and the anticipation and excitement for this year’s first Major Championship fills the air! This year, there are 23 Masters rookies out of a field of 96 players at Augusta, which equals to about 24%. With Tiger Woods out of the tournament this year, the strong favorites include Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy although even they admit themselves the field is wide open!
So far this season, there have been many first time winners including likes of Jimmy Walker, who has won three times this season already! There is also Patrick Reed, who could possibly be a top 5 player in the world? And of course, we cannot forget the defending Masters champion Adam Scott, who hosted the Champions dinner on Tuesday night.
Jason Day is another name to look out for and perhaps after many years of falling short at the Masters, we could see a back to back win for Australia at the Masters! Jason was in top form when he won the WGC Match Play Championship however, a thumb injury led him to take a few weeks off. There are many candidates who may possibly win the Masters this weekend and the PGA Tour takes a closer look at the top 10 players to watch for. With a field so wide open, we can’t wait for an exciting finish this weekend!
