We are all aware how much technology has changed the game of golf and to put the evolution of technology into perspective, John Brenkus of Sport Science invited Rory McIlroy onto the show to demonstrate the difference between today’s modern equipment and the equipment of yesteryear!
In the first test, Rory uses his current driver with a titanium head and graphite shaft and compares it to an old persimmon driver with a steel shaft. In the next test, Rory tests the difference between his current ball, which has 4 layers of synthetic material and sizes it up with an old balata golf ball!
The old equipment are approximately three decades old and to see the difference that technology has impacted the game of golf is astounding! Rory also uses the old persimmon driver and hits a balata ball at the end of the show. Think he can still out drive you with equipment that’s three decades old? Rory will be glad to have his modern equipment ahead of the Masters this week but his putting will also need to be sharp on Augusta greens! Watch as Rory puts his skills to the test by putting on the greens and glass of Sport Science!
