During the WGC-Cadillac Championship, we got a first look at the new Taylormade SLDR Mini Driver. This week, ahead of The Masters, Taylormade officially announces the golf club which slips in between the Taylormade SLDR Driver and SLDR 3-wood.
The new Taylormade SLDR Mini Driver is 260cc whereas the SLDR is 460cc and the 3-wood is 150cc. It comes with a stock 43.5″ Fuji Speeder 57 shaft and in 12, 14 or 16 degrees of loft. It is designed as a 3-wood replacement for the player that desires the distance of a driver, but the accuracy of a 3-wood off the tee. It has a deeper face, the low-forward CG like the rest of the SLDR metalwoods and of course, the Speed Pocket, which promotes more ball speed and less spin to give golfers more distance when they Loft Up.
The sole of the new club is also designed to make it easy to hit off the deck, though you’ll notice, like the other SLDR fairway woods, there is not sliding weight on the SLDR Mini Driver, like on the SLDR driver itself. Many custom shaft options are available, so make sure to visit the Taylormade website – and of course, there is also the Tour Preferred version as well! It’s definitely an interesting golf club – even Justin Rose has been experimenting with it and might even put it in the bag for The Masters this week!
