Victor Dubuisson was a relatively unknown player in North America until his duel with Jason Day at the 2014 WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship, where he wow’d the golfing world with his spectacular escapes from the desert cactus.
However, Dubuisson has had a very established amateur and professional career over on the European Tour – he’s definitely a player to watch out for, holding his own against Tiger Woods and Henrik Stenson back in November at the Turkish Airlines Open for his first victory on the European Tour and ultimately finishing 6th in the Race To Dubai. Before turning professional, Dubuisson won the 2009 European Amateur Championship and was the number one ranked player for eight weeks from 4 November to 23 December 2009.
Currently, he sits atop the European Ryder Cup standings and looking very likely to make the team this year at Gleneagles – keep your eye on Victor Dubuisson over the next couple of years and remember his name! In the meantime, watch his amazing desert recovery shots below, which are a bit reminiscent of The Legend, Seve Ballesteros!
